Site Spotlight

The music of Misty Edwards, worship leader with Kansas City's International House of Prayer, is attracting notice. Misty is one of an increasing number of worship leaders in a category that has become known as prophetic worship: music born of spontaneous worship, raw, "unpolished."
You can find samples at her MySpace site.

VI. THE PROMISE OF VICTORY (cont.)
There are many Scriptures that reveal God’s intention for praise as a weapon to release His power:
- "When you go into battle in your own land against the enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies" Numbers 10:9.
- "Judah, your brothers will praise you; your hand will be on the neck of your enemies" Genesis 49:8.
- After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, "Who will be the first to go up and fight for us against the Canaanites?" The Lord answered, "Judah is to go; I have given the land into their hands" Judges 1:1-2.
- "From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger" Psalm 8:2.
- "Open to me the gates of victory; I will enter by them and praise the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord; the victors shall make their entry through it" Psalm 118:19-20, NEB.
- "Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand; to execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute upon them the judgment written: this honor have all his saints. Praise ye the Lord." Psalm 149:6-9, KJV.
- "Every stroke the Lord lays on them with His punishing rod will be to the music of tambourines and harps, as he fights them in battle with the blows of his arm" Isaiah 30:32.
- "On this mountain Mount Zion, the place of praise and worship He will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations" Isaiah 25:7.
- "So the Lord Almighty will come down and do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights" Isaiah 31:4.
- "In Zion his battle-quarters are set up" Psalm 76:2, NEB.
- "Hear that uproar from the city, hear that noise from the temple! It is the sound of the Lord repaying His enemies all they deserve" Isaiah 66:6.
- "…like the roar of rushing water, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army" Ezekiel 1:24.
- "Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting, 'Hallelujah!'" Revelation 19:6.
