cegid (5457) to prostrate oneself, fall down
NEW TESTAMENT TERMS FOR WORSHIP
proskuneo (4352) most common in New Testament (used at least 59 times); to “kiss towards”, crouch, prostrate oneself in homage, do reverence to, adore.
sebomai (4576) to revere, to “fear” or to hold in awe.
doxa (1391) to glory, dignity, honor, praise, worship.
latreuo (3000) to minister to God, render religious homage, serve, do the service, to “worship publicly” and to “serve in the house of the Lord”.
eusebeo (2151) to be pious, to worship, to respect, support.
How does this compare with your definition of worship?
Our concepts, perspectives of worship must be enlarged, we must acquire a greater vision of the Lord and His purpose in us becoming worshipers.
The Biblical words for worship indicate that one who worships has a particular attitude and intent of heart, accompanied by actions (bowing, etc.) and service that express that “heart” attitude.
II. WHO IS TO BE WORSHIPED?
Matthew 4:10 (8-10): Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
God alone is to be worshiped!
What do YOU “adore, admire, dote, esteem, exalt, love, magnify, regard, respect, revere, reverence, and venerate”?
Idolatry of Today
“There is a God-shaped void in our hearts, but many people try to fill it with other things.”
Billy Graham
John 4:23, 24 - God is seeking a relationship of communication, conversation, and fellowship on a spiritual level with His people. He is seeking true worshipers.
We are the worshipers; He is the one to be worshiped. (Never get that confused.)
The Creation worships the Creator!
Psalm 95:2,6 -
“Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms… O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”
The creation worships the Creator —
Loving the Lord with all our hearts, souls, minds. Matthew 22:37
Praising Him - Psalm 135:1
Glorying in Him - Psalm 105:3
Exalting Him - Psalm 99:5
Extolling and blessing Him - Psalm 145:1,2
Rejoicing and being joyful in Him - Psalm 149:2
Thanking Him - Psalm 140:13
“I am the Lord; that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another,
neither praise to any graven images.” Isaiah 42:8
He alone is worthy; He alone is holy; He alone is righteous;
He alone deserves our praise; He alone deserves our worship!

TR Smith's new recording Persuaded is virtually in its own class. You'll be hard pressed to find lyrics that rhyme and flow like these, or one recording with diversity of style from light ballad to driving rock, or one concept that takes a man's journey from confusion and weariness to joy and praise in the Lord. This is the rare release by a Catholic composer and music minister which has a significant chance of crossover to the evangelical community.
TR has had his songs from this album posted in their entirety. Check them out! See if you agree that this is a Christian musican to keep track of.
