David Ruis:
Vol. I No. 20
A Man on a Mission |
March 17, 2007 |

| |
A sense of calling, a gift of worship, and much thought to the poor. Three intersecting motivations that drive David and those surrounding him. On a cutting edge of worship, intersecting the arts and meditation, an earnestness, a cry for His enlarged presence, a plea for justice.
Read some of his background, his community in the L.A. area, and download some pretty good first drafts of new music on the way. (Select all text if you find it difficult to read as is.)

Site Spotlight
|
A site with worship resources, free and 99¢ downloads, as well as some of the latest worship albums. But that's where the similarity with other sites ends. There is a non-profit organization, Inside Out Network, behind it, reinvesting monies gained from site purchases to community ministries.
You won't find a large selection of music at present, but you may find some recordings that you've been wanting for a while. What better than to purchase from a group that will use your money to further the Gospel and its ethics?

I. ZION - THE CITY OF DAVID, THE CITY OF GOD
In David’s Tabernacle, Zion became the place where God’s manifest presence lived. In a spiritual sense, Zion is the place where God’s presence dwells. We have looked at the place, the “tabernacle” of God’s presence in two different ways:
- The Individual Believer - a place where God desires His presence to dwell, and...
- The Body of Believers - which is represented geographically by local churches; God desires for His presence to dwell here also.
As we read about Zion, which is spoken of over 150 times in the Bible, we see God’s truth displayed in the place where His presence dwells.
David’s Tabernacle was set in “the City of David” (I Chronicles 15:1), called Zion: “David took the stronghold of Zion: the same is the City of David” (II Samuel 5:7). It was under David’s reign that the Jebusites were driven out of the area and Zion (located in the southwest corner of Jerusalem) became the location where God’s presence dwelt.
Scripture speaks of Zion in the last days:
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain (Zion) of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” Isaiah 2:2,3
“But ye are come unto Sion (Zion), and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” Hebrews 12:22
“Look upon Zion, the city of our festivals; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful abode, a tent that will not be moved, its stakes will never be pulled up, nor any of its ropes broken. There the Lord will be our Mighty One. It will be like a place of broad rivers and streams…No one living in Zion will say, “I am ill”; and the sins of those who dwell there will be forgiven.” Isaiah 33:20,21,24 (NIV)
