2. ZION IS THE PLACE WHERE THE LORD DWELLS
“Sing praises unto the Lord which dwelleth in Zion.” Psalm 9:11
“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord” Zechariah 2:10
3. ZION, THE JOY OF THE WHOLE EARTH
“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness. Beautiful for situation (in its loftiness - NIV), the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north (as you look at it from the north, Jerusalem), the city of the great King” Psalm 48:1,2
4. ZION, WHERE GOD’S BEAUTY AND GLORY SHINE FORTH
“Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined” Psalm 50:2
“When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in His glory” Psalm 102:16
5. ZION, THE PLACE WHERE THE LORD REIGNS
“The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: He sitteth between the cherubims, let the earth be moved. The Lord is great in Zion; and He is high above all the people” Psalm 99:1,2
6. ZION, THE PLACE OF REJOICING - “Let mount Zion rejoice …” Psalm 48:11
7. ZION, THE PLACE OF PRAISE, SHOUTING, AND SINGING TO THE LORD
“Praise thy God, O Zion” Psalm 147:12
“Praise waiteth for Thee, O God, in Sion: unto Thee shall the vow be performed” Psalm 65:1
“To declare the Name of the Lord in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem” Psalm 102:21
“Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee” Isaiah 12:6
“Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and
everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away” Isaiah 51:11
“For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places (look with compassion on her ruins - NIV [restoration]); and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody” Isaiah 51:3
8. ZION, THE PLACE OF BLESSING AND FAVOR
God’s people bless Him in Zion - “ Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord” Psalm 135:21
God blesses His people in Zion - “The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life” Psalm 128:5
“Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favor her, yea, the set time, is come” Psalm 102:13
9. ZION, THE PLACE OF STRENGTH AND DEFENSE
“Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;” Psalm 20:2
(Talking about Zion) - “God is in her citadels (a fortress in a commanding city); he has shown himself to be her fortress” Psalm 48:3 NIV
God himself, not Zion’s walls, were Zion’s defense! Also read Psalm 46:1-5
10. ZION, THE PLACE OF BIRTH AND REFRESHING
“Indeed of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High
himself will establish her.” The Lord will write in the register of the peoples: “This one was born in Zion.” As they make music they will sing, “All my fountains are in you.” Psalm 87:5-7 NIV
All that refreshes us is found in the place where God’s presence dwells (ZION).
11. ZION, THE PLACE OF DELIVERANCE
“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them” Psalm 126:1,2.
Read Psalm 137 - Zion’s song can only be sung in His presence, that’s where there is life and power.
12. ZION, THE PLACE OF THE WORD OF THE LORD
“...for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem” Isaiah 2:3
“O Zion, that bringest good tidings…” Isaiah 40:9
13. ZION—TELL ALL GENERATIONS!
“Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts (a defending elevation/embankment), view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation. For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.” Psalm 48:12-14 NIV
You are a holy citizen and resident of Zion. The strength of God’s presence in Zion will be yours as you enter in through worship. We enter Zion by bringing the presence to our house through worship. We abide in Zion by continual worship in His presence.
